It did not work for me. I tried importing the video from the sony dcr sr42, premiere cs3 would not recognize the camera. I downloaded the file with the sofware inculded with the camera, premiere was able to import the video but no audio was included. I do not know what I did wrong and that has been my problem. Encore, on the other hand, wants the video and audio separate, so the export from Premiere Pro CS3 automatically makes m2v and wav files, and both assets are imported into Encore onto the same timeline. That keeps the audio in sync with the video.
