PP CS5 can work with AVCHD without conversion or even rendering if you opt for a supported CUDA (NVIDIA) graphics card. Its worth the upgrade if you are on a previous version.
Note: The demo of PP CS5 doesn't have the MPEG4 codecs, therefore it will not edit many HD formats, just R3D (RED) I believe. It records in AVCHD onto SD card media but also has a direct 100mb SDI output for recording to external media. I love this footage and placed a pre-order for this camcorder. The cheaper but comparable GH2 will be released in November. Is Premiere capable of editing AVCHD directly?
