Thanks Dietmar and Glen for recommending those programs but I try
to have the absolute minimum programs possible on my computer.

I can understand if people install additional programs for specific 
tasks but
defragmenting is a part of the basic computer operation and always  worked
well in Windows (at least for me).

It simply puzzled me that WIN7 now tells me the drive is 0% defragmented
and XP tells me that just about everything is. Will defrag in XP in the 
future.
