The landing of the drops in the water should be clearly visible on 
video and clearly hearable on audio. If there is noise while the 
water isn't moving yet, you'll know the audio is ahead on the video. 
I just hope the noise of the drops landing in the water will be loud 
enough to register. But I can also let the drops land on some 
cardboard, that surely makes some noise. When editing I notice 
audio-drift for example when someone puts a glass on the table but 
you'll never sure when exactly in the video the glass touches the 
table especially when it's shot from above. Using piano, organ and 
speaking lips for sync is not easy, the best/easiest thing is 
something that produces a sudden short noise, like clapping hands or 
a clap board.
