Ah, but (1) I don't know the ancestors well enough, and (2) Latin and Greek are not ancestors of English, which comes from the West Germanic branch of the Germanic branch of Proto-Indo-European language. Latin comes from the Italic branch and Greek from the Hellenic branch.
