Frances to Armando and listers...

You asked how the sound of musical form is communicated. This is
asked presumably within the framework of the integration theory
of communication. Since communicators therein must be mature
human linguists and any information must be only in the form of
language signs, then the sounds heard as musical forms would
seemingly be interpreted into statements to be thought about or
talked about. In other words, meaning must be read into musical
sounds as if an expressed discourse were stated by a reviewer.
Otherwise, the exchange and contact and accord of musical form is
likely heard, but is not communicated nor by signs, which signs
must be language signs. Anything outside of linguistic verbal
language is not able to be communicated or to be a sign. This is
my take so far on the Harris theory as applied to nonlingual haze
or stuff that is shared.
