T I think there is a  confusion here between the sobriquet used to
mean a category of art and a quality. The quality exists before the
cateogry of art. The quality produces the verity and the category as a
convention follows after.

Yes, Kate, I think you are right to mention a 'convention of abstract
art'.  But
since all art or all 'verity' is abstract, the comment is circular.
