You could contact your rep at your favorite distributor and request that they
stock certain items. Either the distributors or Chuck seem like they’re
waiting for a minimum economic order quantity before ordering or making more.

It seems to me that Chuck probably has too many different products. Yes,
someone out there loves each of them, but the end result seems to be nobody is
stocking any of them.

In the M-TOW family, there probably needs to be a handful of popular, stocked
items, and the rest are build-to-order perhaps with a minimum order quantity.
Do we really need both 6 and 10 inch M-TOWs? Do we really need 24, 36 and 48
inch M-TOW-Ps? Could some of the items be made modular so you could buy the
parts and build several variants? If some of the items have total annual sales
of less than 100, maybe they should be eliminated or relegated to special order
only.

I would also guess that the surge suppressor products are less of a problem for
the distributors, because they are neither big nor heavy. And it helps that
most of us are probably standardizing on the CAT6 (gas tube) versions,
eliminating the need for the LV and HV versions. But the M-TOWs are probably a
pain in the butt to stock and ship.

I guess another approach would be to use a distributor more used to selling big
hot dip galvanized items, like Sitepro1. They do sell third party items. But
maybe there would be the temptation on their part to copy the best selling
items and have them made in China.

Right but when it's 6 weeks short? How can you simply not have stock for so
long. And it seems like no one has them now, so how long is the build from
order to ship?

It isn’t rocket surgery to keep track of your run rates and look for trends.
But inventory is cash sitting on the shelf. I do understand.

But I am still going to keep building to order rather than to forecast.

I saw that some doctor was saying that politicizing face masks was like
politicizing toilet paper.

Maybe that’s your answer. Convince half the people to refuse to use TP. Then
there will be plenty for us.

My local grocery store has an entire aisle of the Northern Quilted 3-ply Ultra
Plush, it’s like Kleenex for your butt. Except they are all the Maxi rolls. I
need someone to use half of each roll and then send them to me. Those giant
rolls are like the rolls of paper you see on newspaper printing presses. I
have to set them on the vanity top because they don’t fit in the roll holder on
the wall, and with all the hand washing we’re supposed to be doing, you risk a
full roll of toilet paper getting wet.

I suppose I could mount an M-TOW to the wall as a toilet paper roll holder.
Except everybody’s out of M-TOWs. (actually I saw a couple on eBay. Regular
M-TOWs, not the P version.)

Ive been getting my TP at a janitorial supply here in town through this whole
thing, 48 rolls at a time, cheaper than walmart, really soft without leaving
any furballs. Theyve had that, sanitizer, masks, etc throughout. People are
weird. Imma cut some people when i find out whose been buying up all the pork
ramen noodles though.

Rice never loses any nutrient or taste as long as it stays dry, honey, sugar,
salt are the same, theres 2 other things I dont remember. beans do something
with their protein but still last a long time. I keep 20lbs rice for each
person in the house packed in 2 cup packages in sealed buckets. If anybody
happens to see me toting yellow buckets really quick, id recomend running for
the hills. Morton pool salt is a good salt to store, its washed salt so theres
no debris, pure salt and msds foodsafe.

If it hit the fan, MTOWs would be pretty versatile building components for many
parts of the necessary trebuchets, but we wont be able to scavenge them from
vendor warehouses since they arent there

Most of the shortages seem to have abated. Still hard to find toilet paper
if you don't want the MEGA rolls (because they don't fit on your holders).

The most persistent shortage seems to be canned fruit. I'm thinking it's
actually the cans that are in short supply, not the fruit. Although you'd
think all the fruit would be canned in late summer or fall and then
warehoused.

Supposedly white rice and dried beans are good basically forever, no matter
what the expiration date may say.
