So if I can find any PBE-M5-400 in stock, I wonder if I should put in a key
request, or assume one of the old keys they sent me will work?

I’ve already got AC Powerbeams in the box sitting here since April, I don’t
want to get more stock I can’t use, and I don’t want to give this customer a
date that I have to retract. I guess the safe approach would be a Rocket M5
with a Rocket dish, but I don’t really want to put that on a customer’s house.

I have several PowerBeam M5 400 deployed with the key right now. Unless it's a
glitch in the system it worked fine for the NBE-19 and PBM5.

In firmware 5.6.3 with a unlocked / new rules PBM5 I am able to scan these
frequencies:

5.165GHz 5.17GHz 5.175GHz 5.18GHz 5.185GHz 5.19GHz 5.195GHz 5.2GHz 5.205GHz
5.21GHz 5.215GHz 5.22GHz 5.225GHz 5.23GHz 5.235GHz 5.24GHz 5.26GHz 5.265GHz
5.27GHz 5.275GHz 5.28GHz 5.285GHz 5.29GHz 5.295GHz 5.3GHz 5.305GHz 5.31GHz
5.315GHz 5.32GHz 5.325GHz 5.33GHz 5.335GHz 5.485GHz 5.49GHz 5.495GHz 5.5GHz
5.505GHz 5.51GHz 5.515GHz 5.52GHz 5.525GHz 5.53GHz 5.535GHz 5.54GHz 5.545GHz
5.55GHz 5.555GHz 5.56GHz 5.565GHz 5.57GHz 5.575GHz 5.58GHz 5.585GHz 5.59GHz
5.595GHz 5.6GHz 5.605GHz 5.61GHz 5.615GHz 5.62GHz 5.625GHz 5.63GHz 5.635GHz
5.64GHz 5.645GHz 5.65GHz 5.655GHz 5.66GHz 5.665GHz 5.67GHz 5.675GHz 5.68GHz
5.685GHz 5.69GHz 5.695GHz 5.7GHz 5.705GHz 5.71GHz 5.74GHz 5.745GHz 5.75GHz
5.755GHz 5.76GHz 5.765GHz 5.77GHz 5.775GHz 5.78GHz 5.785GHz 5.79GHz 5.795GHz
5.8GHz 5.805GHz 5.81GHz 5.815GHz 5.82GHz 5.825GHz 5.83GHz 5.835GHz

I only got one code when I requested it. We already had a DFS code for the old
radios without DFS approval.

Let me try to unlock a AC PTP link this afternoon if I get around to it.

I have 2 envelopes here from Ubiquiti that I received back I think around
April (they are not dated) with labels I had requested for Loco-M5 and
PBE-5AC-500. They sent separate codes for each model, and said they were to
unlock U-NII-2 band. What I wanted was U-NII-1 band, plus the fact that they
sent separate codes for each model tells me I would need to request different
codes now for other models if I were to purchase Nanobeam M5 or Powerbeam M5
radios. And apparently you find out when you get them if you need an unlock
code, and then if you request unlock codes, you find out what those do when you
get the codes and try to install them.

And from the UBNT Forums, my understanding is you still need to use beta
firmware to unlock the AC Powerbeams.

From what jaldridge is saying, even if I were to order a Powerbeam, upgrade
to 5.6.3, request and install a key, it won’t work? I’m assuming you are
talking about M not AC which would be on airOS 7.x, right?

We upgraded to the 5.6.3 and tried using a key it says the powerbeam doesn't
qualify.

Well, right. that was the case up until airOS 5.6.3 was released... I
expect they'll update the data sheets when the radios are shipping with the new
firmware.

I was just stating what the data sheet says about the US version versus

just fine we ordered powerbeams this last time and cannot do anything other
than 5725-5850.

You most certainly can use the US radios in 5150-5250, and whoever said
that only the world version supports it is wrong.

You just need to upgrade the firmware to 5.6.3, and enter the unlock
key - which you do need to request from UBNT.

Ben, what does “approvals are in” mean?

I don’t give a rat’s ass whether you have approvals in. I want to
know if I can order equipment for a customer install, upgrade to latest
released firmware if necessary, and operate it in the 5150-5250 band. That’s
all that matters to me. Anything else is your internal process to get to what
I need, which is a radio I can buy from my distributor and send out with an
installer to do a customer install off a Rocket M5 AP we installed 8 months ago.

When I go to the grocery store to buy 2% milk, they don’t tell me the
farmer has bought a cow, they either have 2% milk on the shelf or they don’t.
Status reports on the feeding and milking of the cow don’t give me something to
pour on my cereal.

          Hi Guys -

The approvals for both lower band and DFS are in. Same w it AC gear.

          Thanks,
          Ben

This is just incredible. They've been screwing around with this
for about 8 months. Ubiquiti seems to be giving the middle finger to the US
market. I am going to have to look at ripping out some APs and PTP links I put
up back in April and replacing them with something else. I don't know how to
explain to a customer that I can't order equipment for their service because my
vendor has their head up their ass, that just reflects badly on me for using
their equipment.

Does anybody know if the NBE-M5-19 and PBE-M5-300/400/620 allow
5150-5250 MHz with release firmware now? And what is the likelihood any
product I bought from a distributor today would support this band out of the
box without requesting a key from Ubiquiti?

You'd think Ubiquiti would have this somewhere, but I can't find
it.
