Indeed, a bit odd... I've never known 5ghz to work better than 2.4ghz nlos :P
I would just try it and see what it does... even if you just test it with a pair of PowerBeams (or better yet, Rockets with 2`dishes), you should be able to get a pretty good idea what the airfibers are going to do.
