  in regards to your points.

  1) Yes, that is true --> and the reason why their is a shift to focus on
Wireless / Cell

  2) Have true, might be more applicable in certain areas, but not
ubiquitous... The desire to cripple the copper infrastructure has to do with
          a) requirement to allow competitive access to copper wires.
          b) WISP's are more like a mosquito to them, they Cable Co's have
been eating their lunch, while being totally non-regulated (line share aspect).

  3) Yes, agree, especially when it comes with 'we don't have to provide
wholesale access on a regulated rate of return'.
But for some of them, it is not meaty enough :)

The ILECs are focusing on fiber for several reasons:
    1) Dramatic loss of land line only customers due to cell phones.
    2) Loss of DSL customers to WISP due to long and poor copper.
    3) It is a good way to put more rate of return investment dollars in the
ground.

Yes, that is also true.... so here is the chicken or the egg question...

Did the ILEC's focus on fiber (specifically Ethernet) when they were told
by the FCC that they have to share, provide access to the TDM services (copper
& fiber) on an regulated basis to other competitors, and there were not going
to be able to dismantle that at any cost? or because there was a shift in
technology ?

Why 'Ethernet', specifically because during the 'deregulation'
"forbearance" proceedings, the Telco's were able to do a technical contortion
to define 'Fiber' & 'Ethernet' as not being subject to Regulation (having to
provide them to their competitors on a regulated wholesale basis, but only via
unregulated commercial agreements)

All the ILECs I know are focused on FTTH, not wireless.

While I realize that someone of you have an incredibly deep rooted
'hatred' for folks from the other party, I would strongly suggest you go back
12/18 years and see how the FCC has acted under different administrations.

While you may not care too much for this, but the CLEC's business /
Wireline business were decimated under then Republican FCC ...(WISP's were
spared and actually picked up business from that carnage). At that time the
larger ILEC's were focused on wire-line business... Some of you feel the pinch
of this when you go looking for Fat Pipes for your Backhaul and get shafted by
the only option available to you... That is not a random coincidence...

Yes, I am simplifying this.....a lot happen when WISP's were 'sleeping'...

Now, I cringe, to see what happens in the coming years, especially since
the ILEC's have decided to focus on Wireless, in favor of the wire line...

If I was to describe what happened in the wireline world, it would be
like... The Republicans shot the small business isp/nsp/clec's in the back, and
the Democrats double nailed the coffins so that there was pretty much no chance
of possible revival.

      Non-the less life goes on..

      Regards.
