very stiff pedal could be a couple of other things....
1. when you pulled the slave is possible the fork fell off or was
incorrectly placed on the throw out bearing - partially.
2. perhaps issue w the "pivot ball stud" - have no idea what is
properly called - there is a stud screwed into the box with a ball
end - this is the point the fork pivots on. these usually break off
when they fail, but am sure there are a host of ways this can
manifest....usually a good idea to grease the fork where it rests on
the ball.....

btw, did you get the V6 slave or the spider "alternative"??
