I would like to hear more comments and confirm that larger patch set is prefered. Another con is that we may require additional modification every time we add MS Windows specific modules. If we choose typedef wchar_t sal_Unicode; the problem is limited to the modules which requires implicit compatibility between unicode and unsigned short.
