@james : fwiw, Eric Bchard's m178 (2.0.4 ?) available from ftp.cusoo.org doesn't
just crash immediately, at least not straight away, it takes a few attempts.

This is what I found :
OOo m178 compiled by EB (OOo 2.0.4)
Mysql JDBC connector : Stable General Availability Production Release Version
3.1.12
Remote mysql 4.1.12 server
MacOSX PPC 10.3.9 + latest security patches

Observations :
The mailmerge wizard lets you choose a table from the datasource, but then does
nothing, the "Next" button in the mailmerge dialog is not activated, all you can
do is go back to the table selection step or cancel the dialog.

Open a ODB document that uses the STABLE mysql Java JDBC driver to access a
remote mysql database. The password is requested, entered and then connection
made. Now click on the tables button on the left hand side of the ODB main
document window. The tables are displayed. Now try opening a table to view its
contents (double-click or context menu), which is equivalent to the SELECT *
FROM TableX SQL statement. An error message is returned :

"Can not update data content. Illegal operation on empty resultset"

Repeat trying to open a table 4 or 5 times. OOo finishes by crashing and
disappears from the screen with no error message.

Alex
