I checked "members_test.xls" with "Ooo 3.1.0 WIN XP multilingual version German
UI activated [OOO310m11 (Build 9399)]" and did not see any problem:
- No problem to save "members_test.xls" as ""members_test.dbf"
- No problem to create an OOo database connected to "members_test.xls"
- No problem to create a mail merg letter using the mail merge wizzard with
that new database.
For this moment I close this issue, not because I do not believe that nigelbee's
OOo crashes, but because we do not have a valid bug report with an useful
description how to reproduce the problem.

Unfortunately it's impossible to find out what your problem is with your rare
information. Currently I am even worried what your problem might be. In your
report you said "OOo can not save a spreadsheet as dBASE .dbf"
In "comments from nigelbee Wed Jul 15" you criticize that it would be impossible
to create a new database (You do not mention "members_test.xls" in that
comment). That are completely different things. I recommend to discuss your
problem in a mailing list (us...@openoffice.org) or on the forum at
<http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/>. If discussion shows that really
an OOo problem exists, please feel free to reopen this issue and contribute
useful information how to reproduce the problem.
