Hi all,

I have a SB Live Value and have recently changed to Debian from
RedHat72. I also run WinMe on the same machine.

In WinMe when I have the volume control sliders at maximum the sound is
quite loud. In Debian with the sliders at max the sound is barely
audible and I have to up the volume on my external amp so that the sound
is at reasonable volume. In RedHat72 the sound also wasn't as loud as in
WinME, but it was still at a reasonable volume.

Another thing to note is that in WinME the sound is audible for the top
3/4 of the sliders and only goes silent for the bottom 1/4. In Debian it
is only audible for the top 1/4 and goes silent in the bottom 3/4.

My question: is there a way to increase the default sound level?

It is really annoying to have to adjust my amp everytime I boot into
WinMe to play a game and vice versa. Especially since I forget about it
and then my speakers blare out very loud.

I am running kernel 2.4.19-686 with the Debian supplied ALSA modules
version 0.9.0rc5+0.3+2.4.19+3.

Thanks in advance,

- Frank
