This is what other distros do already.

It's not even necessary to overwrite existing kernel modules or resolve
conflicts - it seems that Fedora does not provide the ALSA modules which
are not in the kernel (alsa-driver package on other distros) at all.  So
the user who needs snd-riptide for example is really screwed.
