Chris,

I don't have a TM but my TeleGPS only takes a minute or so to lock up. I would think that your TM should lock in about the same amount of time.

It is possible that the power supply leads are radiating RF. You could try to put some shielding around the power leads maybe. Could you put the entire battery inside the same shield as the camera module? Don't know if that would help.

I tried the TM by itself a couple times and it was taking about 8-10 minutes to get a lock. I had it in the shade of a small tree in my back yard, so I moved it to the middle of the yard on a small plastic stool. That seemed to work a little better (6-8 minutes?). I turned on the RRC2 and it was about the same. I tried the camera without the RRC2 and it went over 10 minutes. I added more aluminum tape on the backside of the camera module and around the ribbon cable from the module to the camera board. That got it back under 10 minutes.

I tried firing up my Garmin Oregon 450. It had 9 satellites in view and had a lock within a minute. The most I saw from the TM was 7. It usually took 6 to get a lock. For now I'm going to chalk it up to living in a somewhat densely populated area with 2 story houses, trees and my large patio cover in the way.

I never unplugged the battery from the TM. I have a screw switch I'm using to arm it.

    Chris,

If you can narrow it down to just the camera, try disconnecting
the imager from the electronics and see if that makes a
difference? Is the problem worse when recording than just with
    the camera powered on?

You might also consider using copper tape to seal up all the
gaps in the shielding of the electronics package. Gaps can
radiate an amazing amount of energy sometimes.

EMI mitigation is part science and part black magic in my
opinion. What works one time won't work the next. Grrrr!

    Hi Terry,

I was outside, but only about 10 feet from my house. I think I
had 6 satellites in the initial solution and 10 in view. I fired
it up by itself until it found a lock and then turned it off.
Then I fired up the other two and turned it back on in the same spot.

I'll turn it on by itself and time it a couple times. Once I have
a good feel for it's lock time I'll try with just the RRC2 and
see if it makes a difference.

    Thanks,

    Chris

        Chris,

Indoors or out doors? How many satellites were in the
        solution?

The first time you turn on a GPS receiver in a new
location it sometimes takes longer to lock up than if it is
close to where it was last used.

Try the Telemetrum with just the RRC2+ to see if you can
eliminate it as the problem source of the problem.

        Hey guys,

I finished my altimeter bay integration last night. I fired
up the Telemetrum 2.0 by itself and it took 5-10 minutes for
it to get GPS lock. I turned it off and then turned on my
camera and Missile Works RRC2+ before turning on the
Telemetrum on this time I let it sit for 6 minutes and it
never found any satellites and never got a lock.

I have the camera board shielded but the camera module is
unshielded and near the Telemetrum. I've been told that
writing to the SD card on the camera produces a lot of noise
and can interfere with GPS signals. Any suggestions?
