I have always heard from all my old(er) elmers that it takes two things to work on 160. 1. Power 2 a vertical antenna. Reply by Jim, JKO: back around Christmas of 1975, 160 meters was very quiet in Michigan. I ran a Lear T30 with four 6L6's (MOPA) where two of them were for the P-P modulator. This thing ran 20 watts out into my 1/4 wave inverted L. I worked states all over the USA with that rig!
