Damn...
should we say this again... DON'T USE MSNP11 BEFORE IT'S OFFICIAL!!!!
Well, if we help finding the bugs, maybe the MSNP11 becomes official
earlier.....
well.. no.. because if you say "this doesn't work" it's the same as "I
request you correct this"... but this is already on the TODO list of the
msnp11 protocol.. there's nothing that can make you pissed off more than
users complaining about things that weren't meant to work (in a
developper's perspective)...
why it disconnected was because the server received a message it couldn't
understand, so it disconnects you.. which means that we send the request
to add a user in the msnp9 way.. which means adding a user in msnp11 is
not yet IMPLEMENTED... AT ALL.. so don't complain about it.. it's like if
you're trying to build a house... you didn't even begin building the
foundations and someone comes at you saying "hey, my window is broken"..
so you say "hey, there is NO windows yet.. because there are no walls
yet.. because the foundations of the house aren't built YET".. it's ok,
but when 10 people tell you the same 10 times a day, you begin to get
really pissed off!!!!
Once msnp11 is done.. supposed to be complete, then we'll say "hey, if you
want to test it, check this box in the login window".. once it's available
to everyone, then we'll get the reports, we'll fix everything, and we'll
move to msnp11.. don't worry,we'll get enough feedback once it's official,
and reporting "bugs' about things not yet completed is not gonna help
getting it done quicker...
the delay before 0.95 as well as the delay before msnp11 being official is
not about "we're not stable enough, we don't get enough feedback", it's
about "I have this huge TODO list of things that need to be done, but I
don't have time to do it...."
Don't take this personnal, and don't be mad, it's nice to try to help us,
and thank you, but if you read the amsn-devel mailing list archive to get
"this is how you enable msnp11", please read also the thread that explains
everything I just rewrote that says "don't report anything before msnp11
is official"...
developpers are short tempered, they get pissed off easily (for those who
know me: especially me... :D) and they HATE repeating the same thing over
and over...
p.s.: amsn develops.. wiki maintainers.. anyone.. can someone take snaps
of this emails and write something in the wiki so we can just redirect
users like Nuno to the page instead of having me re-explain this each
time... I liked the analogy with building a house.. what you think ? :D
build a house == build a software... :)
About the msnp9 problem when adding the contact, I don't know, send us
the status log and protocol log when you do it...
How do I see the protocol log......??!?!??!
Status log is Ctrl-S and protocol log is Ctrl-D (probably D for Debug)
Is this always happening in msnp9 ? for any user or just one ?

I don't no if this was already reported but, I'm using Amsn with
protocol 11 and something strange happen!
Every time I want to had a friend to my buddy list, Amsn simple
disconnects!
No error messages, nothing in status log.... Simple disconnects
I tried to switch to protocol 9, and it gives an error about invalid
character in the contact name and don't add the new friend too....
I would love to add the friend without having to use MSN Messenger....
