Where are you located, by the way?  If you're around NYC, I'm sure I'll have
a phone as soon as it comes out.

I think you're going to have a chicken/egg problem.  If you need to wait
till another player is within that range, it'll be tough.  I think what
should happen is maybe you'll have 5 active "opponents", and you'll get some
indication on the map of an area they're in.  Not exact location.  Needs to
be a little bit of a surprise I guess.  Some way to go looking for them if
you're in the mood.

The good thing about that is if there are only 10 people on in your area,
you'll see 5 opponents.  If there are 10000 people in your area, it'll still
look roughly the same.  You don't get the crappy experience of being the
first people at a party, which is the curse of the social networking sites.
