The way i see it, don't drop it but rather target other, available platforms, like iPhone or Windows Mobile. When the first Android cell phones come out you'll allready know if your idea is appealing to the general public instead of some judge who didn't even look at your application. If Android turns out to be a success you can always go back to your old codebase and deliver a working app much faster than anyone else, if not at least you won't have wasted your time chasing a ghost. That's what I'm gonna do.
