I think that's an excellent suggestion Mark. I think it would be a good idea to allow for separate licnensing of different version of an app. Ie have a single app that can be licensed as 'freeware' 'fully-paid' etc and let the app change its behaviour based on the license that is returned.
At the moment this is achieved by having multiple applications which splits the comments and populates the appstore space with duplicates. Just a thought. All in all I think the Licensing Service is a good thing.
