I'll be the first to suggest www.openstreetmap.org for data then. It's all licensed under an open license, provides WMS Servers, open routing navigation systems, and the data is all yours to do what you want with. Whether it's walking maps, cycle maps, driving maps, etc... Enjoy :-)
