..the sky is blue. (Look! I can spit out random unrelated facts also!) If it is illegal to do contact sync from France to google, as was suggested, then those apps would be illegal. They are not.
If google was putting it's effort into ANDROID (instead of just being an outsourced code shop for the OHA members) you would have at least as good - if not better - access to google services from -any- android device. Instead, your best bet is to get a blackberry or iphone and use the freely available google and 3rd party sync apps. To drag this forcibly back to the original topic :) I think it'll be quite entertaining to watch this phone fail. (Or, alternately - more likely - to learn that this was a chicken-little incident and the retail devices do or shortly will have all the usual google apps..) "Android" won't succeed without google AND a community. Hopefully google will realize that you need to help the community instead..
