The reason why I'm a bit grumpy at such discussions is that most of those discussions feel like they've been help many times over already, and aren't what engineers would consider "constructive". Contributing code is the really constructive stuff. I've just spent 4 days of work getting a new version of the cupcake source code out, merging it with everything that had been contributed from people outside of Google, and getting it to compile and (somewhat) work on actual hardware (ADP1) in a way that only uses tools and data that are available outside of Google, specifically such that people can experiment with their ideas on a recent version of the Android code.
