As a developer I understand, sympathize with, and appreciate JBQ's
position. I am very thankful that we have information from him, Dianne
H, Dave S, etc. coming out to the community. And not just as
information about the "code" of Android, but the occasional
perspectives, etc. It isn't often that you have the ear of the actual
developers of a product. I can imagine the internal discussions and
that their frustrations are being passed up the chain of command,
etc. Likewise, every time someone harps on them regarding something
they have no control over I cringe.

As a consumer, it is unfortunate that we don't get any glossy press
from the more business minded portion of the organizations regarding
the future plans of the platform, different hardwares, etc. This is
the paragraph about "where's my A2DP" etc. And I understand I'm
talking about multiple companies with differing interests.

It is frustrating to be so excited about this project and to be so
interested in every little nuance, yet hear little or nothing from the
official channels. If it weren't for the information from these
developers "in the trenches" I would have assumed my T-Mobile phone
and the Android system on it were in their final form and any issues I
have with it were not being considered for future releases. As a
developer of applications for the platform I have been hesitant to
throw myself in completely when the future of the G1/Android combo is
so murky. But I have enough confidence in Android itself to continue
my own work, even if I don't release it until things settle down a
bit.

Finally, as a fanboy it's difficult to have such a blind, sycophantic
passion for my "google phone" yet have to defend it against folks with
issues. Ah the things we do for love..
