Some years ago, I wanted to buy a used computer to donate to Lydia Press (lydiapress.com) I went to ebay and saw a low priced computer. Suddenly before the auction closed, I started getting a flurry of emails from ebay, "only 2 hours left, if you can raise your bid by $XX you can win!". You can guess the rest - I bid and bid and won. A few days later, it dawned on me that I had done a stupid thing - the other bidders were likely (and I have ebay to thank for learning this new term), "schills".
