Caveat: the action being handled should be something fairly generic. "View a
text file", "view a web page". "Open the detailed page for this app on the
market you got it from" is not exactly generic.

If the appropriate app is installed to handle your intent, yes. Your
proposition for Amazon to "handle the market intent" would require that not
only they provide an app that handles the intent but more importantly that
the user download and install this app. Therefore, there is no guarantee
that opening your generic market intent would lead to the Amazon store. If
fact, you're pretty much guaranteeing that they will always lead back to the
Market app. If you're Amazon, this does not make sense.
