I added the kill switch a couple of years ago after a user (they are not customers if the app is free, they are users) gave me a lot of hate mail and negative comments about the colors I chose for the app. I refused to change them to satisfy the user and because of this, he continuously put in negative comments about what a jerk I am and blah blah blah. The thing that irked me is he continued to use the app, a lot. I wrote the kill switch specifically for this guy. There was no making it right. If a user is going to blast the reputation of an app yet continue to use it, they deserve to be banned. That's my opinion anyway.
I have since used the ban feature maybe a dozen times out of 3,000,000 downloads. It really has nothing to do with app performance or security but personal satisfaction. They're already yelling and screaming, leaving nasty comments (often repeatably) and sending me hate mail so the least I can do is relieve them the burden of using our horrible app. I cannot express in words the amount of satisfaction doing this brings me. -John Coryat -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Discuss" group.
