I think that the issue is that the video is recorded in 3/4 format and not
widescreen, thats why you get the black bars.
If you download handbrake.fr there you can cut the black bars in the
settings when you convert the video.
I convert all my videos as mp4s with the weboptimized option for it to start
playing at ones without buffering.
This works good both on iPhone and Android.
Hope it helps.

Subject: [android-discuss] video resolution for android
Hi All, need help
I am new to this group, and hope i am asking this question in right
discussion group. We have developed an android app using which a user
can watch video contents. basically this contents are streamed from
our streaming server. We record the content in .3gp file with h.264
video codec and AAC-LC audio codec with a resolution of 640x480 at
500kbps.
The issue i am facing is the video appears with curtain(side black
bars) on all the android devices. we want it to fit to screen.
Is there any specific standard for the video resolution to be used
and any specific video codec which suits best for streaming on
android?
Appreciate your help.
Regards
Nischal.
