I'm almost considering a link to a support form. Just regular emails
will often result in telling me the app stopped working but not which
app (because I sell several) nor what market, since I sell on Play and
Amazon. Like many site support forms before they can enter a message
they would need to select those items first.

Providing quick ways to rate has been good for me, people do seem to use
them.
I think the Play Market is the best place for this kind of communication by

Yes.
and if so, do you find users send emails?

It's not. Many are convinced that's what the ratings are for.
I haven't published my first app yet, I would hope that short of giving a
crappy review, a user would try to reach out to the developer before
leaving a bad review and rating.
