That worked a treat. I am now booting from my SD card, and have even backed-up my new root-fs to a space CF; really easy.

c860: was proudly running pdaXii13! Now trying Angstrom ...

17in MacBook Pro: lovely xxxx
Psion NetBook: a pda that I am not always updating and reflashing... might actually get some work done! SE P990i: with UIQ3. If I had paid the retail price it would have been a let down. But I got it cheap and unlocked, with a 2GB memory stick for free, so hey! Having wifi on your phone is not to be missed. Would love it to really run linux!
Pocket Loox 720: used for designing ebooks. Just don't like it though!

Hi Grog!

Thanks for the info. When I look at the install images in the feed
which is which...? So I know which one(s) to install on the SD, in a
folder I gather should be called "boot-images".

I have downloaded :
Angstrom-x11-image-glibc-test-20070710-c7x0.rootfs.tar.gz
x11-image-c7x0.jffs2
zImage-c7x0.bin

Which one of these would be the "-rootfs.bin"?

Sure once I have got the hang of this I'll have multiple ones just for
the fun of it. Might have to get a big SD card!

That sure looks nice; would it work for a c860?

Altboot works wonderfully! I'm booting from a 4g sd card, and the
performance seems fine.

That's the way I do it on my 860, so yes! :) It is pretty cool. I've
created several different images of 250mb in size. That way I can fit
one on my smallest sd card, which is a 256. I've got several
different copies, a backup for milestones so I can easily go back
after a change. On my current working image I've still got about
100mb free root space, that's after installing gpe, abiword,
gnumeric, minimo, etc, and a bunch of smaller stuff. And it zip's
down into a file of less than 80mb right now, so that makes a great
backup.

Try it. It's definitely the way to go.
