Broadly, yes. X11 is a protocol / framework allowing applications to display 
GUI applications in a hardware independent way. The clients are applications, 
the server actually does the displaying.

It's another X server, one which is able to display output within an Opie 
session.

Absolutely. Wellenreiter still works and is on my list of applications to add 
to the feeds.
