First off, Managing Projects with Make is *OLD*. In fact, it celebrated 10
years this year. There are a ton of patterns that have come about in those
10 years making the book a decent shelf-sitter for the beginning make user,
but not very useful for large projects and especially web application (watch
Peter V. or Diane say otherwise). My experience has shown that the web
offers the best information for using Make (or any other configuration
management tool) and the only thing better than the web is to copy other
projects' use of Make.
Second, a book is already in the works.
