Well, the card is installed in the GS now, so my first "experiment"
will most likely be to just swap the "cpu box" into my current setup.
If it is a ROM 03 logic board, however, I have not had good luck
doing this in the past. My system was installed and operated for
17 years now (ouch!) with no problems, but it is a ROM 01 machine.

Glad to hear this, as I sure had no luck finding anything on the web.

I have never been much of a fan of "clock chipping" machines. Seems to
be just inviting trouble!
