Hmm,
I wrote a tool after a request by some "common people" a while ago
called filofax.apm (Diary, notebook, and addressbook) ,is that
what you mean by "useful" ? If so, it would be fun to include it...

That is exactly what i want.
And here is my dream for the future...

Some suggestions i have been thinking of for several years...
What about a startbutton? that folds itself up'n'down instead of the static toolbar.
A nice looking graphical NC-clone that will show itself on top of arachne.
a standardset of graphical windows, like filerequesters, menus and alertboxes,
for batchfiles that will pop up on top of arachne. making it look as if
they were an integrated part of arachne.
- this will need a mime.cfg flag to tell arachne not to clear screen but
instead to shadow itself(black dots?), and to redraw screen when returning.
Also, good documentation on all the files (like arachne.pck) that is used.
-This would help people like me to write programs that expands the functionality of
arachne.
Maybe even put together libraries for popular compilers like TASM/MASM,) with
predefined
widgets, for use in programs that should be integrated and have the arachne
look'n'feel.
(like cdplayers, calculators or even small games like "w95-solitaire" )
And finally, make a cleanup in the use of external protocols, to make it possible
to use a homemade downloader as smooth as if it was integrated.
( Like HTTPS:// ,Zmodem:// ,or something else... )

I have seen and tried a lot of desktop enviroments for dos, like seal and similar,
and i didnt like them at all, Not even the one mentioned earlier on this mailinglist.
So an another idea that i have been thinking on for a long time is a desktop.
that is fast to load and easy to use ,separated from arachnes slow html rendering.
( Prefereably a special desktop module that utilizes arachne-files )
It would be very useful, especially for people without computer experience
(Like most ppl i know). Also, some alternative ikon setups would be nice =)
(I was thinking of amigas magicwb and glowicons, which are prettier.but some
people may prefer ikons that look like windows instead)

Most of this stuff could be written by John Doe and his friends, after the
documentation of
arachne.pck, cache.idx and similar has been made, and some new options in mime.cfg has
been added.
