How big it is ? Maybe we can stuff it into basic distribution...

I can't imagine what you mean. Like in Windows ?

I was thinking about swithcing layers between "browser" and "nc"...

Hmm, nc-clone would be filerequester itself... but sometimes, some
simple file select menu helps... of course.

This would require plugins to produce graphical output...

This would be another Windows 3.1 ;-)

I am not so DOS oriented. I expect Arachne to be single-task in DOS, and
to run in multiple windows/multiple consoles on other OSes. This is not
problem. Maybe we can have some kind of MDI, but it would be probably
too much to aim for complete GUI.... Norton or Midnight commander are
not GUI for programs you launch from them -but you use Norton or
Midnight all the time...

Hmm, Arachne's HTML rendering is not that slow (although it should be
faster...), and I wanted to build desktop around HTML, to be true....

Hmm, I am talking rather about integration of file manager with browser,
not about desktop. File manager is something one really needs, and
often , sending e-mails and downloading files from web is closely
related to installing programs, unzipping archives, viewing different
file types, etc.

Hmm...
