Hello Rob, GMX provides reliable and free POP and web email, and you can sign up using Arachne. They offer free spam filtering and security options as well. However, GMX is in Germany and I can't predict whether POP access will work satisfactory from your location. And be prepared that you first need to work your way through quite a few subscription forms at GMX.
