Another way to preserve your installation is to copy the .ini which has your
current install key, .txt and .tif file(s) from the old install that you may
have modified and overwrite the new install.  Make sure you keep the same
files from the new install just in case problems crop up

Yes, thanks. We have the 3.01 installation CD from years ago, I guess
we'll use that. And we have a CD registration key from an email which I
assume is ours and will work. 

The new computer doesn't have a SCSI card, so we have to get a new
scanner before they can put in the new computer. This scanner is older,
so it's probably a good move to replace it. Thanks!

If you haven't figured this out already, I believe you'll need to
install v3.01 and work up from there. The 3.4 download that's available
on the Infotrieve web site is only an upgrade and expects to find an
existing installation of Ariel; if some version isn't already on the
computer then 3.4 probably won't install.
