You might try having your IT people recompile the server side software.
Andy, my it guy, did this recently and it does behave better.

We're seeing a similar issue here at CDC. We're on version 3.4. We have a
store/forward server set up here, with one Ariel installation on a machine
outside the firewall and a second inside. We have been receiving some color
or grayscale files which are received fine by the outside Ariel, can be
viewed on that machine, but which will not send on to our internal Ariel
machine. We get the "disk full" error message in the log. This does not
affect all color and grayscale files, just some of them. We usually end up
asking the sender to re-send the file by alternate means. I'd love to find
a solution though.

We too are able to view the documents in the Ariel received queue, but when
we attempt to post to the document delivery webserver, they end up showing
an error in the status column in the delivery queue. It never does post to
the webserver, and the patron never receives the notification email.
However, we do not have any problems with it crashing the system. Thanks
for asking, jan/OIT

We too have this issue. Although we can usually view the color/grayscale
files in the Received Queue-if we try and deliver the file-it shuts down our
delivery system (we still use Prospero) I have to go into the system and
remove all the files internally to bring Prospero back up. So are you
actually trying to deliver the file using Ariel and posting to a webserver
or directly to the patron's email?

Jan,

I would be interested in hearing if, and how, you are able to resolve this
problem. We ask libraries not to send us grayscale or color documents via
ARIEL for the very reason you state - our patrons are not able to view the
documents when they are posted. We have had this problem for as long as
we've used ARIEL and we've never been able to identify the source of the
problem.

Thank you Cindy. Our ITS dept. indicates that the issue has nothing to do
with the pick-up server. They are fairly certain that it is something to do
with Ariel. I have also contacted Ariel support, but as yet have not heard
resolution to our problem. I'm hoping that someone on the listserv will
have encountered this at some point. Jan/OIT

Perhaps it is not Ariel, but your document delivery patron pick up server
may be rejecting articles containing color or grayscale, even if the file
size is smaller than some b&w files. Prospero and some other program I
forgot the name of don't seem to be able to handle some color, grayscale or
longer files. I'd have your IT person or persons investigate your patron
pick up server. If you have had no problems before, it is possible that with
the end of the semester, if your patron pick up server also does other
tasks, the server is getting overloaded.

Hope this helps

We are having problems posting 'received' documents that are designated
color 'C' or 'G' to our document delivery patron pick-up server site. I'm
assuming that these are 'color' or 'grayscale' documents. These are all
coming up 'error' in the Delivery Queue. I don't believe it is a file-size
issue as larger black/white files are posting fine. Any suggestions?

Thanks!
