Brian, if you have an application of any size, even if a Word doc could hold all of those cross references, you wouldn't be able to read it due to the massive size. Sync Search DB is probably your best option for now, unless ARInside works better for you. I am hopeful that the new admin tool will allow for some new and creative options, but those would probably be just for application subsets, due again to the volume of data therein.
If ARSPerl is ported to a version of ARS that you are using, you might consider using ARSDoc - it worked pretty well back in the day.
