Email ID is the field that links the two records together (same field on both forms). If you don't find the corresponding e-mail in the email messages form, it's possible that that record has been deleted. OOB, the errors form does not get cleaned up when an email gets removed from the email messages form (I added a filter on our system to fix that and keep the email errors form from getting filled up with error messages that no longer have a corresponding e-mail in the messages form).
