I was in an interview one time when the person asking the questions was actually thumbing through the developer handbook. About 15 minutes in, I told him to call me back when he got done studying.
On the flip side, I had a very keen manager not ask a single technical question - he had already spoken with other folks in the industry that knew me - so he had a darn good idea what I could do.
