** Hi, You can also use the following add-in for 7.6.04 versions of Developer Studio: https://communities.bmc.com/docs/DOC-14382 ________________________________ Kind Regards, Carl Wilson http://www.missingpiecessoftware.com/ From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:arslist@ARSLIST.ORG] On Behalf Of Jason Miller Sent: 25 September 2013 21:50 To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: Re: Filter not working anymore ** Yes, just right click it and select "Convert to Custom". That option was not present in 7.6.04 so you will need at least Dev Studio 8.0. Unless it was added in a patch?.?.? BPCU is more or less a one time thing to identify and/or convert your old pre-overlay definitions into overlay definitions. In this example it is a BMC base form. DO NOT CONVERT TO CUSTOM THE FORM IN THE EXAMPLE! It is just and example that it can be done. In overlay mode, there are CUSTOM objects that are new things that you have added and OVERLAID objects that are ones you have overlaid from base. If there is anything in base mode that is not from BMC, you should convert it to a custom object (you are really promoting it from base to best practice overlay mode and since there is no object there, it is a custom object. Once you do that, you should just stay in best practice mode for everything you do. New stuff, you create as custom objects. Stuff you want to change you overlay and then change the overlay copy. Anything you have created or overlaid, you just edit as needed to change it. The system takes care of everything else. And as has been mentioned, I would suggest that you DO NOT EVER name something you create BMC_ or anything with a prefix that matches the prefixes used by the applications you have installed. That way there is essentially no possibility of conflict between your custom work and anything BMC may add. I watched the video from Kiran and understand it a little but now I am just like ok...custom or overlay?? I just don't want to lose anything. I created 2 test forms...1 in Base mode which came in as Unmodified and then the other in Best mode which came in as Custom. I was not able to see the Best-Custom form in base mode..understood. I was able to go into Best mode and see the Base mode form and then convert it to custom which is good. The thing is now...how do I get the overlaid form that was in question at first below to a custom mode so that when I add fields, etc they will work correctly? My guess is your custom forms and workflow are all set to Unmodified right now. To convert them to custom, right click on the form or workflow in the object list and select convert to custom. Then you will be able to update in Best practice mode. I'm not certain this will work for you with a mixed version of 8.1 developer and 7.6.4 server. This is what I had to do but we have both 8.1 server and developer studio. Hope that helps some. Then when that ticket was closed I had a filter that would notify a specific group that the ticket was closed or reassigned. It worked at one time and now it does not. Nothing has really been changed. Don't know what the issue may be...any help? Also, before I took over doing the Remedy admin/dev stuff here at work there were numerous forms with objects already created under 7.6 I believe it was. Now the only way I can add another field is to do it under Base mode because if I am in Best mode the selections to add a field are all greyed out. What can I do to be able to add it in Best Mode as I would like to work just in Best mode because from what I have learned if I do anything in Base mode it may not be saved after a system update or flush.
