I'm actually surprised there isn't a bigger outcry over the crime because that will play a major role in selling (or not selling) the condos. All many of the new condo owners will have to do is walk a block or two to see lots of abandoned houses and crumbling buildings where people are selling crack.

If you ask me, it's buildings like those that should face emminent domain. Why is it that Asbury Park has tons of buildings that haven't been used in over 20 years still around but the redevelopment is going after buildings that are currently being used?

I say find a legal avenue to give the property owners one year to either fix up or sell their properties or invoke emminent domain. It is those eyesore that help bring much of the crime in Asbury and those eyesores that keep the city from looking nice.
