No offense, again! You state: > Sharon, > > "I don't know what the answer or solution, is." > > I'm not letting you "off the hook" that easy - I'm going to push > back on you a bit.
Why do you think I know the solution? It's like affirming that the Republicans, along with the consenting Democrats, signed off on a preemptive war, which had no strategy for starting, or ending it! There is a "war" on Black people, in this country. It began in 1861, when the first shots were fired at Ft. Sumnter, SC. Many say that the War betweetn the States, was not about slavery, but slavery was a pure economic solution, that this country has been waging, since then. Cheap labor, at low costs. Studied Economics, too; micro, macro and advanced, for my Major. If you've studied American History, the American Indians, didn't pan out, as slaves. Indentured servants, would be freed from their obligation to pay for their passage in a few years, America needed cheap labor. The solution? Blacks from Africa! They could withstand the heat of the sun and were clearly identifiable; the color of their skin. The Dutch, landed at Jamestown, VA., with 19 Blacks in 1619. Blacks, from the sub-Shara region of Africa, the Ivory Coast, Ghana, Gambia and other Western regions, with the help of warring tribes, virtually "stole" men, women and children, from their villages and placed on slave ships to the Western Hemisphere, known as North America, the Caribbean and South America. I myself, didn't know, until 30 years ago, that Brazil had the largest Black population outside of Africa, itself. American Negroes, were told that Africans hated us, didn't identify with us, etc. Those were tactics, used to keep us divided. I went on a pilgramage to Medjugorje, Yougoslavia, with my Mother and Sister, back in 1990. While I awaited the English Mass, 3 women, 2 African and 1 from Lebanon, walked up to me, stood me up and embraced me, saying, "You're my sister, from across the water"! I embraced her back and I was home in Mother Africa, for the first time. God had answered the question, I had been asking secretly, for years. Being a Catholic, I can embrace anyone, from any faith, because this is what I was taught. I have always felt compassion for Jews, Asians, Italians and the Irish, who have ALL been discriminated against, but because they are considered Euro-centric, have easily overcome the discrimination heaped on them, from the Protestant and Puritanical Ethic, that predominated in the earliest years of white settlement, in No. America. Look, it's going to take a monumental effort in this town to set aside predjudice, misconceptions of Blacks in general, because I too, fell into the concept, that "they have no one but themselves to blame", and in some cases, they do. These kids, don't come into the world alone. It took two people, to get them here. Black Men, do not have the luxury of being born, expecting anything from American Society, except a hard time! When they do manage to succeed or be educated, they are never given the benefit of the doubt! My own physician, once told me how, although he graduated at the top of his class in medical school, he was always second-guessed, during his residency at Jersey Shore Univ. hosp. My brother-in-law, incorporated with other specialists in Mass., to avoid just this. Larry Lawson's mother, was told that her son was not college material, while a student at Neptune High School. He is the Assignment Judge, out in Freehold today. So much for Neptune! My son, had natural talent in Art and while taking the course in Neptune HS, was accused of "tracing", until I went there, the next day and had my son demonstrate his "tracing" abilities! In order to raise my sons to men, I had to stay in Neptune's neck, virtually! I am not in the mediation field, not a psychiatrist, although I could use one, not a teacher, etc. I am a Business Administrator, as my major implies. I've worked over 40 years, raised 5 GOOD children, have 14 grandkids and a second husband, for 37 years. I am neither hostile or mean to be. I've marched, boycotted, written to my legislators and voted. I am just a citizen, or so I thought. The people elected ought to get their heads together and solve these problems. That's what they are getting paid to do, although the paltry amount they get, isn't worth all this trouble. The cops ought to issue warrants against any suspects, meet with community leaders to work out a viable plan, get the damn parents involved, because good homes, begin with good parents. Sex education, should be vigorously taught, as well as hygiene, etc. My adult children, are as involved with their children, as I was/am; you never stop being a parent! They tell me stories, of how people observe how they are with their kids and the same activities we partook of, like the circus, the zoo, museums, sports and family gatherings. Men they work with, are learning from my kids how to be Better men. I did my job and it wasn't easy. My husband always had 2 jobs and myself, constantly working, so that the kids could be kids and have a chance. I thank God, I'm still alive, still raising hell sometimes, but I don't owe anyone, anything! Yahoo!
