Local work force will help developer revitalize Asbury Park

As the designated redeveloper for the oceanfront redevelopment 
project in Asbury Park, Asbury Partners is committed to making 
significant improvements in the community. This commitment includes 
awarding a significant percentage of the projects' jobs to our local 
work force.

Rebuilding and revitalizing a city goes beyond buildings and 
boardwalks. Local jobs are crucial to the rebirth of this city. 
During the actual rebuilding of Asbury Park's waterfront, residents 
and local businesses should also prosper, in essence benefiting from 
the project themselves.

The success of this project and the turnaround of Asbury Park depends 
on redevelopment efforts connecting positively with residents. This 
means jobs must intersect with the needs of the people.

To properly meet the needs of the project, Asbury Partners is fully 
behind having a balanced work force. To that end, we understand and 
appreciate the value of the building and construction unions. Their 
expertise will be critical to the redevelopment of Asbury Park, with 
some of the biggest and most complex projects requiring the skills of 
union workers.

Yet, there is plenty of work to go around to local residents. As 
prescribed in the Waterfront Development Agreement, a certain 
percentage of the work for the project will be designated for local 
workers. Whenever possible, Asbury Partners will work to go above and 
beyond this figure. This continues to be a priority for Asbury 
Partners.

With so much work at hand, the time to get things done is now. And 
with the help of local firms working together with union contractors, 
we look forward to quick and efficient progress for the city. The 
project is very complicated, but by tapping into workers right here 
who are ready, willing and able to start rebuilding their city, we 
see a very bright future ahead — perhaps brighter than some can even 
imagine.

It has long been our belief that revitalization goes beyond creating 
real estate. It means bringing a long-term sense of hope and optimism 
to the community. Our hope is that Asbury Partners does just that. We 
belong to the community and we want to see it thrive. Our commitment 
is to total community revitalization.

To date, we have spent $2 million on local contracts and we expect $5 
million in future infrastructure work to be awarded to local 
contractors. This is on top of a $7 million commitment for affordable 
housing and community initiative, of which $2 million has already 
been transferred to the city.

The city's rebirth should not result in a battle over opportunities, 
but be a catalyst for more opportunities for all. As a fully invested 
community partner, our commitment is to revitalize the city in every 
way we can.
