This is the best reply I've read in some time.
I came to NJ at a time, when AP"s boardwalk catered
more to family than what its' evolved to. All of the
vintage post cards and initial creation of Asbury was
why I raged some, because I saw what my kids came up with
being destroyed. I do have an old 1997 Asbury Park Master
Plan, from my days on the Board Of Adjustment and seeing
Asbury evolve from Carabetta to Madison Marquette has taken
some getting used to.

I "feel" for residents who have to PAY to park in front
of one's own residence and it appears as though the City
just doesn't "get it" in that regard, mainly because NONE of
them, live in the Boardwalk area. If I lived over in Hinge's
area, I'd be "pissed"! He's paying off the hook property
taxes, then is "touristed" to pay to park. I say GIVE residents
who live there a FREE decal entitling them to a space.

Clean up the damned Library Park and install some surveillance
there. What would be a "pretty" historic park is reduced to
a hangout for drunks, mental cases and the homeless; like a
Marlboro Psychiatric of the air! I read with chagrin about
Rita in the Coaster and I do believe that someone ought to learn
how to use interpersonal skills, rather than blast off at what I
consider "an institution" of the Shore and should be duly respected.
Supressing speech is one of the first steps to anarchy. Silence
the public to let others know, this is what you'll get for
speaking out.

As far as the West Side, that building should have been finished, 3
months, ago. There are still mountains of dirt, with plants growing
out of them, now. Message: The poor, need not be respected, no matter
that they too are represented by the SAME Constitution. Brings to
mind, something Dr. King said in one of his many speeches, " A Black
Man has no rights a white man need respect"! Promises of a supermarket or
something on the corner lot across from the old
Orchid Lounge on Memorial and Springwood.

Anyway, this was the best response I've seen. It seems the killings
go on. Like dreams deferred, the murdered person's family can only
dream of what their young persons' life would have been like had they
lived. Asbury Park needs a workable Jobs program. Something like
Industrial Arts Training like Carpentry, Electrical and Plumbing
that those whom college isn't on the cards or not to their liking
can have something to give them a decent living. With that, I'll
continue to read on.
