Personally, I wouldn't even own a car if I lived downtown. No need for it, everything is in walking distance.
Being on the Westside we have downgraded to one car, and 4 bikes (vespa this spring). The residences are supposed to have parking lots. There are restaurants on Mattison that need parking so all you would be doing is shifting the cars that were "stored" on Cookman to Mattison.
